Mother is presented in an interactive storytelling style with poetic stories about ?Lias? mother?s family and friends. Performed in authentic costume and historically based\, this touching drama mixed with humor offers an unforgettable experience in history\, literature\, music\, and theater. Paul Laurence Dunbar was a gifted and prolific pet\, writer\, lyricist\, and folklorist who was a forerunner to the Harlem Renaissance era in American Literature. As the son of ex-slaves\, he was influenced by both his parent?s storytelling. His work influenced other writers such as Langston Hughes and Zora Neal Hurston to compose work in dialect and regional vernaculars.
