Performed in authentic costume and historically based\, this touching drama mixed with humor offers an unforgettable experience in history\, literature\, music\, and theater. Paul Laurence Dunbar was a gifted and prolific pet\, writer\, lyricist\, and folklorist who was a forerunner to the Harlem Renaissance era in American Literature. As the son of ex-slaves\, he was influenced by both his parent?s storytelling. His work influenced other writers such as Langston Hughes and Zora Neal Hurston to compose work in dialect and regional vernaculars.
