DESCRIPTION:Taste the Good Life Charity Gala is a bi-annual event hosted by DiSalvo's Station. The spring gala will benefit the Blood Science Foundation. Guests of the event can visit stations throughout the restaurant that offer the best of food\, wine\, spirits\, and fine cigars. The gala also features entertainment\, raffles and silent and live auctions. According to the Blood Science Foundation\, every two seconds\, someone needs a blood transfusion in the United States. A single pint of blood can save up to three lives. At the same time\, 38 percent of the nation's population is eligible to donate blood\, but only 10 percent become regular blood donors. "There is no substitute for human blood\, and as our population ages\, regular blood donors are becoming blood users\, particularly in this region\," said Mark Giaquinto\, president and CFO of Blood Science Foundation. "The Central Blood Bank collects only about half the blood distributed to nearly 50 hospitals we serve in western Pennsylvania\, West Virginia\, and eastern Ohio. That's why we are asking for our community's support to meet our region's critical blood needs." Funds raised at the event will support the Central Blood Bank.
