Health Specialist

We are accepting applications for the position of Health Specialist. As a team member of our Children and Family services, you will use your experience and education in healthcare to provide preventative health services to all program participants. You will accomplish this by:

  • Working with staff, community providers and families to develop and implement health plans to meet the needs of children and families,
  • Assist in the screenings of all enrolled children including reading and evaluating health records,
  • Educate staff and families in meeting the health needs of children, and
  • Conducting home visits as necessary.

We (Westmoreland Community Action) are a non-profit organization that works to connect individuals and families to opportunities and resources throughout the community to improve their quality of life and help to reduce poverty in the community. This is accomplished through housing, counseling, support, education, intervention, collaborations, partnerships, information, referrals, and networking.

Qualifications:

  • CDA with experience in healthcare, OR
  • Certificate or Associate’s degree in a health-related field.
  • Experience working in the health field and working with children and families.
  • Must be able to obtain child abuse, state police, fingerprint-based criminal background check, and sex offender registry clearances.
  • Valid driver's license required and must carry $15,000/$30,000 bodily liability car insurance.
  • Must be able to successfully complete Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse training.
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft suite.

Annual income depending on experience: $36,171 – 39,583. This position is paid hourly and is non-exempt.
