Put a Leach on Cancer by Joining the Bark For Life Dog Walk The fight against cancer will go to the dogs Saturday, October 3rd when the American Cancer Society's 4th annual Bark For Life event takes place this year at the Unity Township (Lakeside) Park, Beatty Road, Latrobe, PA. The event will be held from 9:00 AM through 1:00 PM, with opening ceremonies beginning at 10:00 AM. This family friendly movement celebrates our canine caregivers who play a wonderful role in the lives of those diagnosed with cancer. And canine's get cancer too, so time will be taken to honor our animal companions. We encourage dog participants to pre-register online in order to receive your free Bark T-Shirt and Bark Dog Kerchief. You may register at the event however shirts and kerchiefs will be on a first come basis. The fee is $20 for the first dog and $10 dollars for each additional dog. This year, the event will present its annual "Prestigious Paw Photo Contest" with the winner being awarded $100 cash, the Best Costume Contest, the Best Dog Trick and many other dog friendly fun games including prizes for the winners. A basket raffle and food concessions will be available for our guests and walkers. Pink Ribbons will be available for all those celebrating breast cancer awareness month and all breast cancer survivors will have the opportunity to win a "Pink Gift Basket." On hand will be our local veterinarians in our wellness center, demonstrations by multiple K-9 service dogs, a search and rescue dog, a canine agility course and many vendor booths to visit. New this year will be our Balloon Release to honor or remember your lovable companions. We hope you will partner with your canine best friend and join us at this exciting event. Admission is free to the public.
