Young Adult Workforce Specialist
Our Young Adult Services team is looking to add a Young Adult Workforce Specialist our Agency. Using your interpersonal skills and job market knowledge, you will assist young adults (ages 16-24) in preparing for career readiness and job placement connecting them with community partners, employers, and educational institutions. Using your education and experience, you will accomplish this by:
- Providing one-on-one and group job readiness training, including resume writing, interview preparation, and professional etiquette;
- Conducting career assessments to identify strengths, interests, and employment goals;
- Developing and maintaining relationships with local employers, training providers, and community organizations;
- Coordinating job fairs, recruitment events, and networking opportunities; and
- Advocating for, designing, and implementing workforce development programs and initiatives tailored to young adults.
Westmoreland Community Action is a non-profit organization that works to connect individuals and families to opportunities and resources throughout the community to improve their quality of life and help to reduce poverty in the community. This is accomplished through housing, counseling, support, education, intervention, collaborations, partnerships, information, referrals, and networking.

Our Young Adult Services Department provides Re-entry and a variety of housing options.
- Bachelor's degree in social work, education, human services, workforce development, or a related field.
- Experience working with young adults, particularly in career development, case management, or job placement.
- Knowledge of workforce development programs, labor market trends, and career pathways.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate young adults.
- Ability to build relationships with employers and community partners.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and case management software.
- Passion for youth development and commitment to fostering economic opportunities for young adults.
- Experience with grant-funded programs, workforce initiatives, or vocational training, preferred.
- Familiarity with barriers young adults face in employment (e.g., housing instability, justice system involvement, or educational challenges), preferred.
- Bilingual (Spanish or other languages) is a plus but not required.
- Must be willing to travel throughout Westmoreland County.
- Must possess a valid PA driver’s license, auto insurance, and a reasonably clean driving record.
- Must be able to provide or able to obtain child abuse, state police, fingerprint-based criminal background check, and sex offender registry clearances.
- Must be able to successfully complete and maintain Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse training.
Rate based on experience: $23.64 – $28.82 per hour.

REQUIREMENTS NECESSARY TO SAFELY PERFORM THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION OF YOUNG ADULT WORKFORCE SPECIALIST:
Strength requirements - Push/pull, lift/move up to 25 pounds.
Manual dexterity - Perform moderately difficult manipulation - typing, writing, filing.
Coordination - Perform tasks which require foot and/or hand/eye coordination - driving a car, computer data entry.
Mobility - Walk, stand, sit for prolonged periods of time, drive.
Speech - Articulate with extreme accuracy – employee/participant relations, phone contact.
Vision - Read small print, drive a car.
Hearing - Able to receive verbal information with some background noise.
Concentration - Able to concentrate on moderate to fine detail with constant interruption.
Memory - Able to remember multiple verbal and written task-assignments given at beginning of a period extending over long period of time.
